From the young age of 14, Larry Koonce knew shoes would be a lifelong passion. In 1982, he and his wife Pattie founded John Allen Shoes in Fayetteville, North Carolina – a business grounded in love for family, community and quality craftsmanship.

The name John Allen Shoes is a tribute to their fathers: Mr. John Summers and Mr. Lawder Allen Koonce. What began as a local shoe store has grown into a trusted destination for customers across southeast North Carolina and beyond, thanks to a thriving online presence.
